Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between somatic therapy and Executive Rest? Somatic therapy is a licensed, clinical service focused on healing, nervous system regulation, and integration. Executive Rest is a non-clinical, somatically informed coaching offering focused on leadership capacity, clarity, and sustainable engagement.

How do I know which one is right for me? If you’re feeling frequently overwhelmed, emotionally dysregulated, or impacted by past experiences, somatic therapy is likely the best fit. If you feel generally stable but stretched, fatigued, or navigating leadership decisions, Executive Rest may be more supportive.

Do both include body-based practices? Yes. Both somatic therapy and Executive Rest include awareness of the body, breath, and nervous system. The difference is not whether the body is included, but how the work is held and the scope of care.

Is Executive Rest a form of therapy? No. Executive Rest is coaching, not therapy. It does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions and does not replace psychotherapy.

Can I move between somatic therapy and Executive Rest? Yes. Many people move between therapy and coaching at different seasons of life. At Selah, we support these transitions thoughtfully and will recommend the container that best supports your wellbeing and capacity.

What if I’m not sure which to choose? You don’t need to decide alone. We’ll help you discern the most supportive option during intake.

Do you work with executives and community leaders? Yes. Selah works with individuals who carry responsibility in organizations, communities, and systems - including executives, nonprofit leaders, and change-makers.

Is this work about rest or productivity? Rest at Selah is not about doing less. It’s about building the internal capacity to lead, decide, and respond with clarity and steadiness.

My place of employment may be willing to pay; can you help with this? We encourage sponsorship from employers and can provide a letter to support that process for you.
